Odisha State Legislative Assembly Passes Council for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Bill 2019
The State Government will set up Odisha State Council for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. With Odisha Legislative Assembly clears the Odisha State Council For Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Bill, 2019, Council will be set up for the purpose of coordination and determination of standards of education in the field of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.
And the Council will handle the maintenance of a Register of Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapists in the State.

Naba Kishore Das, Minister Health & Family Welfare presented the Bill and cutting across party line, members both Treasury Bench and Opposition supported the Bill. In order to ensure uniformity in maintaining the minimum standard of requirements, course curriculum, syllabus and registration of students, the proposed Council will exclusively regulate the institutions offering Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy courses established by the Government or by Private Sector including such colleges or institutions established after commencement of the proposed legislation, said sources.
The Council will also act as a recommending body to the Government for grant of permission to open new institutions as per the provisions laid down in the Act, the sources added.
