Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, organizing a two days International Conference on “Best Practices in Education and Training of Persons with Downs Syndrome” on 15th & 16th April 2021. This conference is accredited with CRE status by RCI , New Delhi.

Concept Note:

Every year, March 21st is observed as the World Down Syndrome Day to celebrate the individual differences among persons with Down Syndrome, advocate their rights and create global awareness. Research studies have shown that individuals with Down Syndrome benefit from early intervention and appropriate training, Educational programs. Positive public attitude, acceptance, timely rehabilitation and support services also play a critical role in promoting their well- being and independent living. The future is bright today, with rapid advancements in medical therapies, Rehabilitation practices and Educational intervention available in line with international legislations like UNCRPD and IDEA Acts.

Keeping these points in mind and seeing the current need to create skilled p r o f e ssi o n a l s , a n I n t e r n a t i o n a l Conference is being organized by Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, AIRS, AUUP to create an understanding and also explore opportunities regarding higher education, transition, social inclusion, employment and current trends in the research for persons with Down Syndrome. Objectives:

  • The purpose of the International Conference is to create a forum for Special Educators, General Educators and Rehabilitation Professionals to share knowledge and e x p e r t i s e t o w a r d s p r o m o t i o n o f Empowerment, Rehabilitation and training of Persons with Down Syndrome towards their holistic development.
  • The conference with a forward looking approach plans to design an appropriate road map to integrate best practices towards the higher education, social inclusion and transition of individuals with down syndrome favouring sustainable development.
